1930 · 1953 · 1960 · 1986
Four dates carved into an unfinished mountain — scaffolding still up, ladders against the rock, the work plainly not done. Where the faces would be, there are none. Golf isn't finished, and nobody's likeness is for sale.
1930 — Bobby Jones wins the Amateur and Open championships of Britain and the United States in one season. Nobody has done it since; the tournaments have changed so much that nobody can.
1953 — Ben Hogan wins the Masters, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship in a single year. He skips the PGA because it clashes with the Open. Four years earlier a bus hit his car head-on.
1960 — Arnold Palmer starts the final round of the U.S. Open seven back, drives the green at the par-4 first, and shoots 65.
1986 — Jack Nicklaus wins the Masters at forty-six. Still the oldest man ever to do it.
The Builders carries daylight — white body, black collar and cuffs, blue sky over the rock. One of four shirts in the Mount Series, each set at a different hour of the same day, on the same mountain.
